Serving the Beaches area for 40+ Years

Founded in 1983 by Dr. Green, our clinic has been a trusted, independently owned practice serving the community for over 40 years. In 2021, after decades of dedicated care, Dr. Green retired, passing the clinic to Dr. Batten, who had been working alongside him since 2017. A University of Georgia graduate with nearly two decades of experience, Dr. Batten remains committed to the personalized, high-quality care that sets our clinic apart.

Independently Owned

As an independent, one-doctor practice, we focus on what matters most—tailoring treatments to each patient’s needs without corporate influence. Dr. Batten is known for her ethical approach, honest communication, and passion for surgery. She is supported by a skilled team of experienced technicians, all dedicated to treating every client like family and ensuring the health and well-being of their beloved companions.

  • Kelley Batten, DVM

    Veterinarian, Practice Owner

    Dr. Kelley Batten is a highly skilled veterinarian with a passion for providing exceptional care and improving the lives of her patients. A graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004, Dr. Batten moved to Jacksonville in 2007, where she has built a reputation for her practical approach to veterinary medicine. With a diverse background that includes working in emergency rooms, urgent care, and general practice animal clinics, she brings a wealth of experience to every case she handles.

    Known for her honesty and straightforward approach, Dr. Batten is committed to delivering the highest standard of care while being mindful of both the pet's well-being and the client’s. She firmly believes in offering practical solutions for both the pet and their owner.

    Dr. Batten’s true focus lies in improving the quality of life for her patients, and she is passionate about ensuring that each pet receives the care they deserve. Dr. Batten is also deeply enthusiastic about surgery and takes great pride in her surgical skills. Her unwavering dedication makes her a valuable part of the Atlantic East Animal Clinic team.

    Hi! I'm Nae, and I'm proud to call Jacksonville, FL, home. I've been a part of the Atlantic East Animal Clinic family for a year now, and I've been a vet tech for three amazing years. Helping families care for their furry loved ones is truly a dream come true for me. Working at Atlantic East has only deepened my love and passion for animals. I always greet our clients with a smile and make sure they feel like they're part of the family.

    When I'm not at work, I cherish spending time with my baby boy, creating memories together. He truly is my world. I also love exploring new foods, binge-watching YouTube videos, and getting lost in crime documentaries. Building relationships with clients, pets, and our team is something I truly enjoy. I have one 12 year old English Bulldog at home named Ursula.

    Vet Tech

    Somer has been a valued member of the Jacksonville community since 2003, bringing over 20 years of experience to the veterinary field. Specializing in emergency medicine, Somer has a deep passion for providing urgent and compassionate care to animals in critical need. Outside of work, Somer is a true animal enthusiast. She shares her home with six dogs which include a Belgian Malinois, Rottweiler, and Great Dane. She also cares for a pig, turtle, and several tarantulas, showcasing her love for a wide variety of animals. When not working, Somer enjoys camping, where she can unwind in nature. She also has a keen interest in behavioral dog training, helping to enhance the bond between dogs and their owners.

    Greeter

    Starla, the heart and soul of our office! A resilient and sweet-natured 3-legged wonder, Starla was rescued by our clinic after overcoming significant challenges in her early life. Despite her previous hardships, Starla never lets her missing leg slow her down. She’s a pro at zooming around the office, finding the coziest spots to nap (preferably near a sunny window), and making sure everyone gets a little extra love throughout their workday. She loves her treats and will give everyone an ear full if she's without her wet food in the morning. 

    Starla takes her role as the office greeter very seriously. Clients love to visit and see her, as she’s always ready to offer a warm (and sometimes furry) welcome. She’s known to brighten anyone’s day with her gentle and friendly demeanor.

  • Awesome! Amazing! Caring! Thorough! Honest! This vet is all the above plus more! Dr Batten is excellent in her profession, as a person & provides honest diagnosis - be it good or not so good. I have 2 large dogs who have been under Dr Batten’s care since their birth, so a little over 10 years. In every experience with Dr Batten, the Office staff, & the Vet techs - I have only great things to say about them. Fair & honest - Dr Batten performs thorough exams, will only do necessary tests, surgeries and/or prescribe necessary meds. Also just for information…the prices charged by Atlantic East Animal Care is lower than most vet offices (but care is not compromised). I learned this through talking with family & friends & what their vet is charging. I highly recommend this veterinarian office. I have full trust in Dr Batten. Even my dogs love going there - they are excited when I pull into the parking lot & even more excited once in. Thank you Dr Batten & everyone at Atlantic East Animal Care.
